51 46 050 Removing and installing/replacing top cover on tail panel

Special tools required:

Necessary preliminary work:

Removal:

Lift out cover (1) with special tool 00 9 325 .

Undo screw (1), release expanding rivets (2) and remove storage compartment.

Pull off edge protection for tailgate (2) in marked area of trim (1).

Release screws (1).

Lift trim (1) on left side out of retaining clips (2).

Feed trim (1) out of trim on D-pillar at bottom right.

Installation:

NOTE: Replace faulty retaining clips.

Feed trim (1) into trim on D-pillar at bottom right.

Press trim (1) on left side down into retaining clips (2).

Tighten down the screws (1).

Fit edge protection for tailgate (2) in marked area of trim (1).

NOTE: Make sure edge protection is fitted correctly on bumper panel and trim (1).

Install storage compartment.

Tighten screw (1) and expanding rivets (2).

Install the cover (1).
