51 16 165 Removing and installing complete center console

Special tools required:

Necessary preliminary tasks:

IMPORTANT: Read and comply with notes on HANDLING WIRING HARNESSES and cables.

Insert special tool 00 9 341 as illustrated.

Lever trim (1) slightly downwards and unclip.

If necessary, unclip LED (1) and remove trim (2).

Installation note:

Catches and clamps must not be damaged or missing.

Remove inlay mat (1) of cupholder.

Release screws (1) on center console mount.

Tightening torque 51 16 4AZ .

Unfasten plug connection (2) and disconnect.

Detach wiring harness from central console mount.

Unfasten plug connection (1) and disconnect.

NOTE: Retaining tabs (1) will be loosened during the next work step.

Unclip the bottom rear storage compartment (3) at top (2).

Carefully fold the rear lower storage compartment (2) back until a screwdriver can be inserted between the retaining tab (1) and housing wall (3).

Carefully lever to unlatch the retaining tabs (1) toward the inside.

If necessary, unlock existing plug connections and disconnect.

Detach bottom rear of storage compartment (3).

Installation note:

Retaining tabs (1) and lugs on the entire periphery (3) at the bottom rear of storage compartment (2) must neither be missing nor damaged.

Replacement

Release screws (2) at bottom of frame of center armrest (1).

Tightening torque 51 16 4AZ .

Feed out center console towards rear.

Unlock and disconnect plug connections and connector holders underneath.
