51 36 070 Removing and installing/replacing left or right rear side window

IMPORTANT: The following notes form the basis for these repair instructions and must be adhered to at all times:
NOTE: Removal with OSCILLATING BLADE .

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

Version with TV function: 

Fit straight blade with adjustable roller (Sourcing Reference: BMW Parts Department) on tool and set dimension (X).

Adjust dimension (X) differently according to different position of adhesive bead, refer to Fig 2

Adjust thrust roller if blade differently in areas (A) to (D) (risk of damage).

  1. 22 mm
  2. 26 mm
  3. 25 mm
  4. 35... 65 mm (cut with scalpel from top downwards)

Use a scalpel (1) (for heavy-duty applications) in C-pillar area which cannot be reached with oscillating blade.

IMPORTANT: Carefully cut through adhesive bead with scalpel.
During the cutting procedure, a 2nd person must pull side window with SIPHON at rear in outwards direction.

Overview for side window bonding (F25): 

Cut A - A
a  [mm] = Position adhesive bead 1 +1/along socket contour
b  [mm] = Width adhesive bead 8 ±2
h  [mm] = Height adhesive bead 12 -2

  1. Bead joint
  2. positions of Dual Locks (part number 7 164 933*). There are marks on the sheet metal flange.

Velcro fasteners (2) on side window must be matched to Velcro fasteners on sheet metal flange.

(*sourcing reference: BMW Parts Department)

Position side window with SIPHON at bottom.

Position side window at top.

Close rear door.

Adapt side window to rear door if necessary.

Engage side window in Velcro fasteners (Dual Lock tape).
