51 71 447 Removing and installing or replacing trim panel for cover on left or right side member

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Remove the PROTECTIVE STRIP FROM THE REAR DOOR 

Release expanding rivets (1).

Installation note: 

Replace faulty expanding rivets (1).

Detach the wheel arch trim (1) in the area of the side member.

Unclip the clip (2).

Release remaining clips (3).

Remove cover on frame side member.

Installation note: 

Replace defective clips (2) and (3).

Feed the wheel arch trim (1) on top under the door first and then under the underbody panelling.
