51 15 360 Removing and installing/replacing protective strip on left or right rear door

Special tools required: 

Lever out rubber grommet (2) from inner door panel (1).

Installation note: 

Rubber grommet (2) must not be damaged or missing.

Pass a suitable screwdriver (2) through the bore hole and press on clip (1) at the rear clip lug until you feel it detach and lever it out toward the rear.

Pull protective strip (3) toward the hear to assist in this operation.

Installation note: 

Place tab of protective strip (1) correctly over door edge (2).

Clip out protective strip (3) from front to rear.

Use special tool 00 9 325 to help clip out the component, but always position it below the crimped edge (2) of the outer door panel (1).

Installation note: 

Lever stuck clips (1) out of the outer door panel using a suitable tool.

IMPORTANT: Avoid damaging the paintwork.

Installation note: 

Install retaining clip (2) correctly.

Insert retaining clip(2) correctly into latch mechanisms (1) of protective strip (3).

Graphic A = correctly installed

Graphic B = incorrectly installed

Installation note: 

Clips (2) and (3) must not be damaged or missing.

Replacement 

Modify clips (2) and (3).
