37 12 220 Removing and installing/replacing rear active anti-roll bar

Risk of burning!

This repair work may only be carried out on an exhaust system which has cooled down.

IMPORTANT: Adhere to the utmost cleanliness. Do not allow any dirt to enter the hydraulic system.
Close off line connections with seal plugs.
NOTE: A film of grease on the roller bearing in no way impairs the operability of the anti-roll bar.
In all warranty cases you must always provide a fault memory printout, even where there is no fault entry, with the defective component.
IMPORTANT: Following installation of a new rear axle anti-roll bar with part number 6 856 419  , it is essential to run the "Conversion active stabilizer rear axle"  encoding procedure with the programming system before start-up.

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

If necessary, release screws (1) and remove heat shield (2).

Tightening torque 37 14 19AZ .

Mark installation position of control lines to swivel motor.

Release banjo nuts (1) and remove control lines from swivel motor.

Seal control lines and connections of swivel motor with clean seal plugs.

Installation note: 

Carry over marking of installation position to new part.

Control lines are protected against being mixed up by different thread diameters on the swivel motor connection.

Tightening torque 37 14 18AZ .

IMPORTANT: Risk of damage!
Adjust minimum distance (A) = 2.5 mm between control line and swivel motor.

Release left and right screws (1).

Remove anti-roll bar from rear axle support and feed out at side.

Installation note: 

Check roller bearing on both sides for damage, replace anti-roll bar if necessary (slight discharge of grease OK).

Keep facing for rubber mount on a roller bearing clean and free from oil and grease.

Check rubber mount for damage, replace if necessary.

Tightening torque 37 14 21AZ .

After installation:
