17 11 100 Remove and install/replace the coolant expansion tank

Attention! 

Make sure without fail that coolant hoses are correctly routed. Risk of damage due to sharp edges or chafing.

OBSERVE INSTRUCTIONS FOR REPAIRS ON COOLING SYSTEM! 

Necessary preliminary work: 

• Remove INTAKE SILENCER HOUSING.

Removal: 

Release sealing cap (1).

Draw off coolant with a commercially available pump.

Unlock and detach coolant lines (1).

Catch and dispose of escaping coolant.

Unlock locks (2).

Feed out the coupling with cable (3) and place to one side.

Release expanding rivets (1).

Feed out trim panel (2) and remove.

Release screw (1).

Lift coolant expansion tank (2) upwards slightly until the guide pin is released from the guide.

Fasten clamping pliers (1) to coolant line (2).

Unlock coolant line (2) and pull off.

Catch and dispose of escaping coolant.

Thread out coolant expansion tank (3) and remove.

Installation: 

Connect and lock the coolant line (2) to the coolant expansion tank (3).

Coolant line (2) must audibly engage.

Feed out clamping pliers (1) and remove.

Feed in coolant expansion tank (1) sideways.

Insert coolant expansion tank (1) along with the guide pin (2) in the guide (3).

Position the coolant expansion tank (2).

Tighten screw (1).

Tightening torque 17 10 3AZ.

Install trim panel (2) and secure with expanding rivet (1).

Connect and lock coolant lines (1).

The coolant lines (1) must audibly engage.

Feed in the coupling with cable (3) and install.

Locks (2) must engage audibly.

Top up coolant to MAX. 

Close sealing cap (1).

Required follow-up work: 

• Install INTAKE SILENCER HOUSING.
