Special tools required:
- 11 8 580
- 11 4 471
- 11 4 472
- 00 9 120
Attention!
When replacing the cylinder head:
In all vehicles, the digital engine electronics (DME) must, if necessary, be reprogrammed/re-encoded after replacing the cylinder head.
Read the vehicle I-level and proceed accordingly.
PuMA measure 62634754 must be observed (see appropriate BMW parts catalogue).
Attention!
Replacing the cylinder head may cause damage on the valve gear due to a lack of engine oil.
It is imperative to observe REPAIR NOTES FOR CYLINDER HEAD REPLACEMENT .
Attention!
There must be no coolant, water or engine oil in any of the threaded holes in the engine block.
Fit new cylinder head bolts.
Do not wash off bolt coating.
Jointing torque and angle of rotation must be observed without fail (risk of damage! ).
The complete valve control and the Valvetronic servomotor are already preassembled.
Necessary preliminary work:
- Remove FAN COWL
- Remove INTAKE PLENUM
- Drain COOLANT
- Remove EXHAUST TURBOCHARGER
