51 37... Adjusting the rear left and right window cavity gap

Special tools required:

51 0 342

IMPORTANT: Cavity gap of rear side window rear is adjusted ideally ex works (works tolerance 0.8 mm).
Recommendation:
Only perform adjusting procedures on the rear side window cavity gap if absolutely necessary.

IMPORTANT: Do not slam the door during adjustment and measurement (risk of breaking glass).

Prerequisite:

Vehicle must stand on level ground on its wheels
Charge BATTERY
(Full operability of the power windows during the adjustment procedure is only assured with an external power supply)
Outer weather strip removed. See 51 37 240 REMOVING AND INSTALLING OR REPLACING OUTER WINDOW CAVITY COVER STRIP FOR DOOR WINDOW, REAR LEFT OR RIGHT .

Measure the cavity gap:

Determine the cavity gap using special tool 51 0 342 from rear side window (1) horizontally to the inner edge of flare flange (2) along the entire cavity length.

Adjust the cavity gap:
Remove rear side trim panel. See 51 43 002 REMOVING AND INSTALLING REAR LEFT OR RIGHT SIDE TRIM PANEL .

Release self-locking screws (2) from connecting bracket (1) (replace self-locking screws).

Tightening torque 51 37 3AZ .

Adjust cavity gap by moving connecting bracket (1).

Remeasure cavity gap and repeat adjustment procedure if necessary.

Adjust rear door window. See 51 37 154 ADJUSTING REAR LEFT OR RIGHT SIDE WINDOW .
