52 15 402 Replacing seat cover for driver's seat
Special tools required:
- 52 0 050
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- RemoveINNER COVER
- Remove outer cover. Refer to 52 16 040 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING OUTER COVER ON LEFT OR RIGHT FRONT SEAT (ELECTRIC) or 52 15 040 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING OUTER COVER ON LEFT OR RIGHT FRONT SEAT (MANUAL) .
Improper handling may trigger the side airbag and as a result cause injuries.
Observe safety information for HANDLING COMPONENTS OF AIRBAG SYSTEM .
Use of the universal seat mount is recommended for carrying out professional repairs.
Guide all cables carefully through seat and backrest mechanism.
Make sure cable is routed without kinks and tension.
Make sure plug connections are correctly locked.
Make sure connectors are correctly seated in latch mechanisms.
Version with seat heating only:
Release cable (1) for seat heating at clip (2).
Detach cable (1) for seat heating in marked area from the seat mechanism.
Version with seat heating only:
Detach cable (1) for seat heating in marked area from the seat mechanism.
Unlock and disconnect connector (2).
Detach bracing cloth (1) from seat mechanism.
Installation note:
Attach bracing cloth (1) correctly in the seat mechanism (2).
Lever out seat cover welt from around seat frame.
Carefully slide seat cover with upholstery through backrest gap and seat structure.
Lift seat cover with facing up and forwards.
Installation note:
Ensure that the upholstery, seat cover and bracing cloths are correctly fitted.
Release all clamps in marked area from seat cover and upholstery.
Detach all clamps in the marked area.
Feed out seat cover from upholstery and remove.
Replacement only:
Pull trim wires out of seat cover.
Cut new seat cover to size and insert trim wires.
Installation note:
Bend new clamps (2) with special tool 52 0 050.
