51 16 161 Replacing center console cover

When working on trim panel components, make sure that the sensitive surfaces are not scratched or damaged.
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove CENTER CONSOLE COVER
- Modify FRONT CONTROLLER .
- Modify center console operating facility . See 61 31 197 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/RENEWING CENTER CONSOLE OPERATING FACILITY , 61 31 197 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING CENTER CONSOLE OPERATING UNIT (MANUAL TRANSMISSION) or 61 31 197 REMOVING/INSTALLING (REPLACING) CENTER CONSOLE CONTROL PANEL (M5 WITH TWIN-CLUTCH GEARBOX)
Depending on version:
- Modify PARKING BRAKE SWITCH
- Modify INTERIOR AERIAL
NOTE:
Graphic shows center console trim for manual gearbox.
Release screws (1 and 3).
Modify oddments tray, ashtray and cupholder.
If applicable, modify retaining clips (2).
Installation note:
Make sure plug connection (4) for the cigarette lighter is correctly seated
