61 31 172 Removing and installing/replacing switch for electromechanical parking brake

Necessary preliminary work:

DISCONNECT NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE (to avoid fault memory entries)
F03 only: Disconnect both battery negative cables
Remove GEAR SELECTOR SWITCH COVER

Release screws (1).

Remove switch for electromechanical parking brake (2) from cover for gear selector switch (3).

Necessary preliminary tasks:

DISCONNECT NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE (to avoid fault entries)
Remove CENTER CONSOLE COVER

Release screws (1).

Remove switch for electromechanical parking brake (2) from center console trim (3).

Only for M5 with twin-clutch gearbox

Release screws (1).

Remove switch for electromechanical parking brake (2) from center console switch center (3).

Replacement:

Release screws (1).

Release side catches (2).

Remove cover (3) from switch for electromechanical parking brake (4).

Installation note:

Retaining elements (1) on cover (2) must not be damaged or missing.
