51 16 366 Removing and installing/replacing right glove box with housing

When working on trim panel components, make sure that visible surfaces are not scratched or damaged (e.g. by sharp-edged tools).

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Remove the INSTRUMENT PANEL TRIM AT BOTTOM RIGHT 
• Remove the SIDE PANEL ON DASHBOARD 

US version: 

• Refer to: AIRBAG MODULE FOR FRONT PASSENGER KNEE PROTECTION

Release screws (1).

Tightening torque, refer to: 51 16 2AZ .

Installation note: 

Ensure the glove box is correctly seat on the holder (2).

Open glovebox.

Release screws (1).

Tightening torque, refer to: 51 16 2AZ .

Pull glove box (1) out slightly and unlock and disconnect depending on the plug connection versions (2).

Remove glove box (1).

Installation note: 

To avoid straining the glove box and causing interference noise, observe the screwing sequence (1 to 9).

This also helps achieve optimal gap spacing.

In the case of replacement, the following parts need to be remounted: 

• Refer to: GLOVE BOX DAMPER 
• Refer to: GLOVE BOX COVER 
• Refer to: GLOVEBOX LIGHT

Depending on version: 

• Refer to: USB INTERFACE CONNECTING SOCKET
• Refer to: HOTEL POSITION SWITCH
