13 53 035 Removing and installing/replacing feed line (B48)
Special tools required:
- 13 5 160
Electric fuel pump starts up automatically when door is opened!
Carry out installation work on fuel system only with coolant temperature below 40°C.
Wear safety goggles.
Recycling:
Fuel escapes when fuel lines are detached.
Catch and dispose of escaping fuel in a suitable container.
Observe country-specific waste disposal regulations.
Introduced contaminants can cause malfunctions in the system!
- Do not allow any dirt particles or foreign bodies to get into the system.
- Remove all traces of contamination before removing lines or separate components.
- Use only lint-free cloths.
- Seal all fuel system openings with protective caps or plugs.
The resistance of the silicone material is reduced significantly by contact with fuel, which may cause the ignition coil to fail!
Cover ignition coil with suitable means.
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Disconnect the BATTERY NEGATIVE LEAD .
- Remove the IGNITION COILS .
Removal:
Unlock and release clamp (1).
Unlock and release snap fastener (2) in direction of arrow.
Catch and dispose of escaping fuel.
Close fuel lines with special tools 13 5 161 and 13 5 162 from special tool set 13 5 160 .
Release screw (3).
Release union nut (1) on high-pressure pump.
Catch and dispose of escaping fuel.
Pull out and remove feed line (3).
Do not lose rubber damper (2).
Installation:
Connect and lock feed line in direction of arrow in the snap fastener (2).
Feed line must be audibly engage in the snap fastener (2).
Secure clamp (1).
Tighten screw (3).
Tightening torque, refer to: 13 53 5AZ .
Thread in feed line (3) and install.
Install rubber damper (2).
Ensure correct fit of the rubber damper (2)!
Hand-tighten union nut (1).
Tighten union nut (1).
Tightening torque, refer to: 13 53 4AZ .
Required follow-up work:
- Install the IGNITION COILS .
- Connect the BATTERY EARTH LEAD .
