11 61 050 Removing and installing/replacing intake plenum (B48B)

Necessary preliminary work: 

• Remove ACOUSTIC COVER AT FRONT 
• Remove ACOUSTIC COVER AT REAR 
• Drain LOW-TEMPERATURE COOLANT CIRCUIT
• Remove TANK VENTING VALVE
• Remove ELECTRONICS BOX

Removal: 

Unlock coolant return line (1) with screwdriver (2) and remove.

Release the coolant return line at clamp (1) from the intake plenum.

Loosen screws (2) and lay engine wiring harness to one side.

Unlock coolant line (3) and detach from intake plenum.

Unlock connector (1) and pull off.

Unclip engine wiring harness in the marked area.

Unlock holder (2) and place the injector wiring harness (3) to one side.

Disconnect ventilation line (4) in the marked area from the intake plenum.

Disconnect ventilation line (1) in the marked area.

Unlock ventilation line (2) and remove from intake plenum.

Release screw (3) and feed out ventilation line (4).

Unlock and pull off connectors (1 and 2).

Unlock coolant feed line (1) and pull off.

Unlock clamp (2).

Release screws (1).

Release screws (1).

Disconnect coolant feed line (2).

Lay holder (3) to one side.

Attention! 

Additional coolant can escape.

See that no coolant enters the intake ports.

Release bolts in sequence (5 to 1).

Feed out intake plenum.

Replacement: 

Remounting throttle body (1).

Remounting the charging pressure sensor.

Installation:

Position the intake plenum.

Tighten screws in the sequence (1 - 5)  .

Tightening torque: 11 61 1AZ .

Position holder (3).

Connect coolant feed line (2) to the clamp.

Tighten down screws (1).

Tightening torque 11 61 2AZ .

Lock clamp (2).

Connect coolant feed pipe (1).

Route the wiring harness correctly and connect connectors (1 and 2).

Position ventilation line (4).

Tighten screw (3).

Tightening torque 11 61 6AZ .

Connect ventilation line (2).

Clip in ventilation line (1) in the marked area.

Connect ventilation line (4) in the marked area.

Position injector wiring harness (3) and clip in holder (2).

Clip in engine wiring harness in the marked area.

Connect the connector (1).

Connect and lock coolant line (3).

Route the engine wiring harness correctly and fasten with screws (2).

Tightening torque 11 61 5AZ .

Clip in coolant return line at clamp (1).

Required reworking: 

• Installing the TANK VENTING VALVE
• Install ELECTRONICS BOX
• Top up LOW-TEMPERATURE COOLANT CIRCUIT
• Install ACOUSTIC COVER, REAR 
• Install ACOUSTIC COVER AT FRONT
