11 65 025 Removing and installing/replacing exhaust turbocharger, right, cylinders 1-4 (N63) (X6 xDrive 50i)

Necessary preliminary work: 

• Remove CLEANING AIR PIPE .
• Remove both catalytic converters. Refer to 18 32 050 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING CATALYTIC CONVERTERS FOR CYLINDERS 1 - 4 (N63) REP-REP-RAF1518N63O1-1832050 - V.4 (X6 XDRIVE 50I) and 18 32 060 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING CATALYTIC CONVERTERS FOR CYLINDERS 5-8 (N63 B40/B44 O 1) REP-REP-RAF1518N63O1-1832060 - V.4 (X6 XDRIVE 50I) .

Release screw (1).

Tightening torque 11 42 5AZ .

Release banjo bolt (2).

Tightening torque 11 42 4AZ .

Lay engine oil pipe from turbocharger to one side.

Installation note: 

Replace screw (1).

Replace sealing rings (2).

Release screw (1).

Tightening torque 11 53 3AZ .

Release banjo bolt (2).

Tightening torque 11 53 2AZ .

Set the coolant return line aside.

Installation note: 

Replace all sealing rings  .

Open hose clamp (2).

Pull the coolant feed line off the T-connecting element.

Installation note: 

Replace hose clamp (1).

Pull off vacuum line (1) on vacuum unit.

Release screw (1) with a suitable tool.

Tightening torque 11 42 6AZ .

Release screw (4).

Open V-band clamp (3).

Remove exhaust turbocharger cylinders (1 to 4) with oil return line towards top.

Remount the coolant feed line on new exhaust turbocharger, if necessary.

Release banjo bolt (1).

Tightening torque 11 53 2AZ .

Release screw (1).

Tightening torque 11 53 3AZ .

Remount coolant feed line (2).

Unfasten screws (2).

Remove oil return line (1).

Replace the oil return line (3).

Replace gasket (1).

Replace screws (2).

Position screw 2 in the oil return line.

Slide seal (1) on screw (2).

Position oil return line (1).

To guarantee correct tightening of screws, a second person is required! 

Tighten screw (2) with electronic torque wrench with turning angle display.

Tightening torque 11 42 8AZ .

The thermal length compensation (see arrows) on the oil return line (1) must not be mechanically deformed.

Installation note: 

Coat the end of the oil return line with engine oil.

Position V-band clamp (3).

Insert screw (4).

Tightening torque 11 65 1AZ .

Installation note: 

The ends of the V-band clamp must rest parallel to each other.

Screw connection of V-band clamp is too loose: 

If you can see a gap between the ends of the V-band clamps, release and then repeat the screw connection.

If the ends of the V-band clamp are positioned under each other, release and then repeat the screw connection.

Assemble engine.

Check VACUUM CONNECTIONS .

Observe BMW diagnosis instructions.
