Removing and installing/replacing LED module/optical conductor in instrument panel on left (X6 2015-2019)
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove LIGHT OPERATING UNIT .
- Remove FOLD-DOWN COMPARTMENT ON DRIVER'S SIDE .
- Remove INSTRUMENT CLUSTER TRIM .
If necessary, pull felt strip (1) from instrument panel.
Installation note:
If necessary, stick felt strip (1) as pictured back onto instrument panel, ensuring that neither optical conductor (2) nor screw clip (3) are glued over.
Unlock plug connection (1) on LED module (2) and disconnect.
Carefully release metal retainers (3) with a suitable tool (e.g. screwdriver with 3 mm blade) in direction of arrow and remove.
Installation note:
Make sure plug connection (1) is correctly seated on LED module (2).
Make metal retainers (3) are correctly fitted.
Release latch mechanism and carefully thread LED module (1) out of bracket (2).
Installation note:
Make sure LED module (1) is correctly seated and locked in bracket (2).
Carefully thread fibre-optic conductor with support (1) and LED module out of instrument panel (2).
Installation note:
Insert fibre-optic conductor with support (1) so that recess on instrument panel (2) aligns with guide on support (1).
Carefully release latch mechanism on LED module (1) with a suitable tool (e.g. screwdriver with 3 mm blade).
Carefully pull LED module (1) from fibre-optic conductor (2).
Installation note:
Latch mechanisms on LED module (1) must not be missing or damaged.
Make sure fibre-optic conductor (2) is correctly seated and locked in LED module (1).
Check optical conductor (2) in marked area (A) for damage, replace if necessary.
Replacing optical conductor:
Carefully release fibre-optic conductor (1) from support (2) with a suitable tool (e.g. screwdriver with 3 mm blade).
Thread fibre-optic conductor (1) out of support (2).
Installation note:
Make sure fibre-optic conductor (1) is correctly seated and locked in support (2).
Replacement:
Run test module:

- Ambient light and interior lighting with light package
