33 32 021 Replacing left or right trailing arm

Necessary preliminary tasks 

• Remove REAR WHEEL
• Release collar nut  . See 3321001 REMOVING AND INSTALLING OR REPLACING LEFT OUTPUT SHAFT  or 3321002 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING RIGHT OUTPUT SHAFT  on output shaft
• Remove BRAKE DISC
• Remove drive flange  . See 3341005 REPLACING LEFT DRIVE FLANGE ON REAR AXLE SHAFT  or 3341007 REPLACING RIGHT DRIVE FLANGE ON REAR AXLE SHAFT 
• Remove BRAKE GUARD PLATE
• Remove PULSE SENSOR from trailing arm
• Only on right side: Remove BRAKE PAD WEAR SENSOR
• Remove COIL SPRING  at rear

Release screws (1) and remove holder with brake hose.

Tightening torque 34 32 4AZ .

Release screw (1) and remove holder (3) with vibration absorber.

Installation: 

Check installation location.

Secure vibration absorber (3) with 5.5 mm dia. punch (2) in trailing arm bore and tighten.

Tightening torque 33 32 8AZ .

Release anti-roll bar link (1) on upper control arm.

Tightening torque 33 55 2AZ.

Remove lower control arm  . See 3332086 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING BOTTOM LEFT CONTROL ARM  or 3332087 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING BOTTOM RIGHT CONTROL ARM  from trailing arm

Remove upper control arm  . See 3332076 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING TOP LEFT CONTROL ARM  or 3332077 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING TOP RIGHT CONTROL ARM  from trailing arm

Remove BEARING SUPPORT FROM BODY  and trailing arm

Installation: 

Replace wheel bearing  . See 3341153 REPLACING LEFT WHEEL BEARING ON REAR AXLE SHAFT  or 3341155 REPLACING RIGHT WHEEL BEARING ON REAR AXLE SHAFT .

Convert BEARING SUPPORT  .

After installation 

• Perform CHASSIS ALIGNMENT CHECK
