33 31 011 Replacing rear axle carrier

Failure to comply with the following instructions may result in the vehicle slipping off the lifting platform and critically injuring other persons.
Read and observe the information on load distribution in the Owner's Handbook, lifting platform.
Before lowering/removing the rear axle carrier, it is essential to place a minimum load of 100 kg in the luggage compartment to prevent the vehicle from toppling/slipping off the lifting platform!

When supporting components, make sure that

Necessary preliminary tasks 

Remove lower control arm on both sides from rear axle carrier  . See 3332086 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING BOTTOM LEFT CONTROL ARM  or 3332087 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING BOTTOM RIGHT CONTROL ARM .

Remove upper control arm  . See 3332076 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING TOP LEFT CONTROL ARM  or 3332077 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING TOP RIGHT CONTROL ARM  on both sides from rear axle carrier.

Remove trailing arm complete with output shaft and all suspension arms.

After installation
