- Side window preload
- Side window retraction depth/longitudinal direction
Adjusting procedures are performed with hardtop open.
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove REAR WEATHER STRIP.
- Open retractable hardtop.
- Move fixed side window glass upwards (close).
Ideal setting, transverse direction:
Fixed side window glass (1) must be at the correct distance (A and B) from the connecting bracket (2).
Dimension A = 15 ± 1.0 mm.
Dimension B = 15 ± 1.0 mm.
Adjusting transverse direction:
Remove SIDE TRIM PANEL UPPER PART .
Loosen screws (3) and adjust distance (A and B).
Tighten down screws (3).
Ideal setting, transverse direction:
Side window glass (3) must be distance (A and B) away from body (2).
Dimension A = 13 to 15 mm
Dimension B = 14 to 16 mm
Adjusting transverse direction:
Loosen screws (1) and adjust distance (A and B).
Tighten down screws (1).
Tightening torque: 51 37 4AZ .
Ideal adjustment, longitudinal direction:
Side window glass (2) must be positioned with dimensions (A) to door window glass (1).
Measurement (A) = 12, 7 mm
Parallelism deviation ± 1 mm.
Door window glass (1) must be a short length (B) to the gasket (3).
Measurement (B) = 1, 3 mm
Fixed side window glass (2) must demonstrate a parallel gap to the door window glass (1).
Adjusting longitudinal direction:
Loosen multipoint head cap screw (1) with special tool 2 360 051 A.
Adjust X and Z direction by moving the fixed side window glass (2).
Tighten multipoint head cap screw (1) with special tool 2 360 051 B.
Tightening torque: 51 37 2AZ .
Ideal setting, preload:
Insert special tool 51 0 341 in rotary striker of door lock and close rotary striker manually. Carefully close door.
Measure distance (A) between side window glass (1) and inner edge of door window glass (2).
With weather strip fitted (front and rear):
A = 28 ± 1 mm
Without weather strip fitted (rear):
A = 27 ± 1 mm
Adjust preload:
Remove REAR WEATHER STRIP.
Turn adjusting screw (1) 51 2 220 with special tool until correct pretension is reached.
Checking adjustment:
Open door window and side window.
Install REAR WEATHER STRIP.
Close both windows simultaneously and check run-in of side window glass to door window glass.
Close soft top.
Soft top seals must not be damaged.
Check run-in of both window glasses in soft top seals.
