63 21 260 Removing and installing (replacing) left rear light

Open covers (1) on rear light (2) and release nuts underneath.

Tightening torque 63 21 1AZ .

Installation note: 

Make sure cover (2) is correctly seated.

IMPORTANT: Risk of paint damage!

Tape off entire area (1) with yellow plastic adhesive tape.

Plastic adhesive tape protects paint from damage in case rear light touches the body during removal.

IMPORTANT: Use of additional tool or levering out the rear light is not allowed!
The rear light is secured in the body with a latch!
In the interests of avoiding damage to the rear light and the paintwork the following text describes how to release the latch.
NOTE: Similar to graphic.

Release the rear light (2) in direction of arrow from the latch mechanism (1) only by hand.

Unlock associated plug connection and disconnect.

Remove rear light (2).

Installation note:

Make sure that rear light (2) is correctly locked.

Installation note: 

Latch (1) must not be missing or damaged.

Guide (2) and seal (3) must not be damaged or missing.

Replacement: 

Release latch mechanisms at cover of water channel (1).

Remove water channel cover (1) from rear light (2) in direction of arrow.

Installation note: 

Latch mechanisms on water channel cover (1) must not be missing or damaged.

Covers (2) on water channel cover (1) must not be missing or damaged.

Note BULB TYPE .

If necessary, REMOUNT BULBS .
