54 13 065 Removing and installing/replacing floating headlining for glass slide/tilt sunroof at rear
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 2016 BMW 328i xDrive, 2016 BMW 328d xDrive, 2015 BMW 328i xDrive, 2015 BMW 328d xDrive, and 2014 BMW 328i xDrive. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Necessary preliminary tasks:
Move floating headlining (1) to "closed" position.
Place small reversible ratchet (overall height including Torx bit approx. 30mm) onto screw (3) between floating headlining (1) and glass slide/tilt sunroof panel (2).
Release screw (3) on left and right on slider for floating headlining (1).
IMPORTANT:
After releasing the floating headlining, do not move floating headlining mechanism towards the rear! This could cause floating headlining mechanism to fall out of the guide rail!
Pull floating headlining (1) towards the front out of rear sliders. Slide floating headlining further to the bottom of slider of front floating headlining.
Carefully arch over floating headlining (1) and feed out of guide rail towards the top.
Pull floating headlining (1) towards the front out of rear sliders. Slide floating headlining further to the bottom of slider of front floating headlining.
Carefully arch over floating headlining (1) and feed out of guide rail towards the top.
Installation note:
- Carefully arch over rear floating headlining (1) and feed in into guide rail.
- Slide rear floating headlining (1) towards the rear up to limit position. Rear floating headlining (1) must lock in rear slider rail.
- Loosely screw in screws (3) on left and right. Rear floating headlining must still be freely moveable!
- Carefully move rear floating headlining towards the rear until front floating headlining can be fed into guide rail. No automatic move!
- Insert the front floating headlining and move the front mechanism to the front (close) until the floating headlining can be screwed in.
- Screw in all screws at front floating headlining. Front floating headlining must still be freely moveable!
- Completely open and then close floating headlining (stacked position).
Floating headlining sets itself up in mechanism by this!
- Tighten screws (1) on left and right of rear floating headlining.
Tightening torque 54 12 04AZ .
- Tighten screws on left and right of front floating headlining.
Tightening torque 54 12 04AZ .
Installation note:
Prior to installation of a new floating headlining, clean the threads by screwing a screw in and out of every screw hole (1).
