11 27 110 Removing and refitting/replacing balancer shafts (N20)
Special tools required:
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Removing oil sump . See 11 13 000 REMOVING AND INSTALLING, SEALING OR REPLACING OIL SUMP (N20, N26) or 11 13 000 REMOVING AND FITTING, SEALING OR REPLACING THE OIL SUMP (N20 ALL-WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLE) .
Installation note:
Wet special tool 2 219 548 with oil to simplify dismantling and installation.
Secure crankshaft with special tool 2 219 548 via the dowel hole.
Loosen sealing cap using a screwdriver.
Installation note:
Position counterbalance shaft with special tool 2 212 825 .
Secure special tool 2 212 825 on oil pump housing with screw (1).
If special tool 2 212 825 cannot be positioned, the TIMING must be readjusted.
Attach special tool 2 318 117 to crankcase with screws (3).
Press back chain tensioner and fix with special tool 11 4 120 .
Installation note:
There are various central bolts of the oil pump/camshaft sprocket.
- Loosen torx socket with T50 using special tool 11 4 420 .
- Torx socket with T60 can be released using special tool 11 8 580 .
Release oil pump central bolt (2).
Tightening torque: 11 41 5AZ .
Unfasten screws (2).
Release screws (1).
Tightening torque: 11 41 3AZ .
Remove gear and chain module (2).
Release screws (1).
Tightening torque: 11 41 6AZ/2AZ .
Release screws, remove oil pump with counterbalance shaft.
Tightening torque: 11 41 2AZ .
Installation note:
Check spacer bushes for secure seating and damage; replace if necessary.
Assemble engine.
