35 31 050 Removing and installing/replacing over-center helper spring

Necessary preliminary work: 

NOTE: Figures show installed condition.

Press bolt end (1) together with offset pliers and press out pin.

Push in bolt (1) fully in direction of arrow.

Detach clamps (1).

Installation note: 

Check clamps, replace if necessary.

Retainers must lie with both shanks in the groove and snap audibly into place.

Slide out pin (2).

Installation note: 

Lightly grease bolt.

Remove over-center helper spring (3).

There are two versions:

Assembly of over-center helper spring:

Lightly grease holder and spring contact surfaces.

Installation note: 

Secure over-center helper spring first with black holder to clutch pedal.

Gently press over-center helper spring together and secure with grey holder to bearing support.

Connect clutch pedal to clutch master cylinder.

When replacing reinforced over-center helper spring:

Remove locking clamp (1).
