52 17 402 Replacing seat cover for driver's seat (comfort)

Special tools required: 

• 52 0 050

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Remove INNER COVER  on front seat
• Remove SUPPORT FOR OUTER COVER 
• Remove both rear panels  . See 52 17 202 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING LOWER REAR PANEL ON LEFT OR RIGHT FRONT SEAT BACKREST , 52 17 200 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING UPPER REAR PANEL ON LEFT OR RIGHT FRONT SEAT BACKREST  or 52 17 205 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING BOTH REAR PANELS ON LEFT OR RIGHT FRONT SEAT BACKREST (COMFORT)  on front seat backrest

Unfasten plug connection (1) and disconnect.

Feed wiring harness out of seat mechanism.

Lever out left and right clips (1).

Drill out rivet heads (1) left and right.

Detach seat cover tab from seat frame.

Installation note: 

Completely remove rivet residue.

Detach welt (1) from seat mechanism.

Raise retaining lug in succession from A to D, pulling the thigh support (1) forward at the same time.

Installation note: 

Insert support for thigh support in correct position in the guide and lock.

Detach welt (1) from metal tabs.

Detach welt from support for thigh support.

Remove the mounting plate and foam part of the thigh support.

Release clamps in marked area.

Feed seat cover out of upholstery (1).

Release all clamps in marked area of trim wires.

Remove seat cover from upholstery.

Installation note: 

Bend new clamp (2) 52 0 050 closed with pliers.

• 00 9 317
• 52 0 050

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Remove FRONT SEAT 
• Remove BOTH REAR PANELS  on front seat backrest
• Remove INNER COVER  on front seat
• Remove THIGH SUPPORT 
• Remove SWITCH COMBINATION for seat adjustment

Unclip cover (1) on front seat.

Installation note: 

Remove metal clamps (1) left and right on the cover.

Bend up metal clamps and insert back into the cover.

Clip metal clamps (1) with cover into the center slot on the seat mechanism.

Guide lug must not be broken.

Renew faulty cover if necessary.

Unclip trim (1) for thigh support carrier with special tool 00 9 317 .

Release clamps in area (1).

Detach seat cover in area (2) on left and right.

Remove cable (3).

Unhook seat cover in marked area (1).

With seat heating only as optional equipment: 

Disconnect plug connections (2).

Remove seat cover complete with upholstery.

With air conditioning only as optional equipment: 

Unfasten plug connection (1) and disconnect.

Detach all clamps in side area from longitudinal wires (1).

Pull trim wires (1) forward out of seat cover.

Carefully fold back seat cover and release clamps from cross-wires (2).

Remove seat cover from upholstery.

Installation note: 

52 0 050 Bend new clamps closed with pliers.

2. Clamp
3. Trim wire in upholstery
4. Trim wire in cover
5. Seat cover

Replacement only: 

If necessary, cut mounting for trim wires.

Slide trim wires (1) into new seat cover.
