51 24 100 Removing and installing/replacing rear lid lock for (upper) tailgate

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove TRIM FOR TAIL PANEL AT TOP

Unclip Bowden cable sleeve (1).

Pull out Bowden cable nipple (3).

Disconnect plug connections (2).

Release screws (1).

Tightening torque 51 24 1AZ .

US version only

Unclip Bowden cable (2) from emergency release.

Installation:

Place expanded rubber tab at end of Bowden cable directly underneath tail end trim screw cover.

Feed out rear lid lock (3).

Replacement

US version only

Modify Bowden cable for emergency release.

Installation:

Perform function check with (upper) tailgate open.
