32 31 102 Replacing sleeve for steering shaft (AWD vehicles)

Necessary preliminary work
- Remove exhaust system (N63 only). See COMPLETE EXHAUST SYSTEM (N63) or COMPLETE EXHAUST SYSTEM (N63 B40/B44 O 1) .
- Remove heat shield (N63 only)
- Remove underbody protection at front and rear. See FRONT UNDERBODY PROTECTION and REAR UNDERBODY PROTECTION .
- Remove cover of pedal mechanism. See TRIM PANEL FOR PEDAL MECHANISM (ECE ONLY) or TRIM PANEL FOR PEDAL MECHANISM (US ONLY) .
- Remove bottom steering shaft. See UNIVERSAL JOINT WITH CORRUGATED TUBING (N55) or UNIVERSAL JOINT WITH CORRUGATED TUBING (N63) .
NOTE:
Steering shafts (1) and (2) are encoded to each other and can only be fitted together in one position!
It is helpful to mark spindles (1) and (2) to each other before they are pulled apart!

Pull off steering shaft lower section (1) from steering shaft upper section (2).
Pull off steering shaft collar (1) from steering shaft upper section!
