52 14 031 Removing and installing/replacing backrest frame for left or right driver's seat

Necessary preliminary tasks

Remove DRIVER'S SEAT.
Partially remove BACKREST COVER for front seat.

NOTE: For purposes of clarity the following operations are shown with the backrest cover removed.

Detach clips (2).

Installation:

Replace faulty clips (2).

Unlock plug connections (1) and disconnect.

Detach wiring harness retainers from backrest frame.

Feed wiring harness out of backrest frame.

Unclip left and right clips (1).

Unhook seat covers (2) on left and right.

Release left and right screws (3).

Tightening torque 52 10 2AZ .

Remove backrest frame.

Replacement only:

If necessary, remove lumbar cushion with drive and valve block . See 67 66 010 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING LUMBAR SUPPORT DRIVE MECHANISM ON FRONT SEAT, LEFT OR RIGHT , 52 14 050 REPLACING LUMBAR CUSHION ON FRONT LEFT OR RIGHT SEAT or 52 14 060 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING VALVE BODY FOR LEFT OR RIGHT FRONT LUMBAR SUPPORT (NORMAL/ELECTRIC) .
Remove SIDE AIRBAG .
Remove complete backrest cover . See 52 14 407 REPLACING BACKREST COVER FOR DRIVER'S SEAT (NORMAL/ELECTRIC) or 52 14 408 REPLACING BACKREST COVER FOR FRONT PASSENGER SEAT (NORMAL/ELECTRICAL) .
Remove CARRIER PLATE FOR REAR CABIN ENTERTAINMENT .

NOTE: The new backrest frame part contains all the drives.

Version with rear cabin monitor (RSE) only:

Blind rivet threaded pins for carrier plate must be reset.

Attach blind rivet thread pins with ZS 308 rivet gun.
