51 45 075 Removing and installing (replacing) support for instrument panel

Necessary preliminary tasks 

Only if there is SA Head-Up Display

Release nuts (1) on A-pillar.

Tightening torque 51 45 2AZ .

Release screws (2) on tunnel.

Tightening torque 51 45 3AZ .

Release screws (1) on steering column support (2).

Tightening torque 51 45 1AZ .

Release screws (3) on steering column (4).

Tightening torque 32 31 1AZ .

Release screw (1) on earth connection.

Release screw (2) on instrument panel trim holder (3).

Release screws (1) on instrument panel trim holder (2).

Remove instrument panel carrier and if necessary feed out through front passenger door.

Only slacken screws (2) on steering column (1) near universal rubber joint.

Tightening torque 32 31 1AZ .

Lower steering column support plate (2) by continuing to turn screws to measurement x underneath attachment points (1).

Measurement x = 25 mm

WARNING: Do not unscrew screws too far; if steering column falls, this will damage the universal rubber joint.

Remove support with assistance from second person.
