11 23 010 Removing and installing/replacing vibration damper (N55 Hybrid)

Special tools required:

2 318 439 .
11 0 390 .

WARNING:

High-voltage hazard!

The following must be strictly observed prior to starting work :

Observe SAFETY INFORMATION for handling hybrid cars.

Necessary preliminary work:

Remove FAN COWL .
Remove STARTER MOTOR .

NOTE: Insert tool 2 318 439 in starter opening.
Make sure locking pin (1) is correctly seated.

Gearing (1) of tool 2 318 439 must engage in flywheel gearing (2).

If this is not possible, slows turn the crankshaft in the direction in which the engine runs until the gearing engages.

Tool 2 318 439 must be completely in contact with the crankshaft housing.

Tighten screw (2).

IMPORTANT: Do not release central bolt.

If the central bolt is accidentally loosened, the timing must be readjusted.

Slightly release screws (1 to 8) (do not screw out).

Remove drive belt .

NOTE: Mark the direction of travel of the drive belt if it is to be reused.

Turn belt tensioner (1) in direction of arrow until bore hole (2) is aligned with belt tensioner and crankcase.

Hold belt tensioner (1) under tension.

Secure with special tool 11 0 390 .

Turn belt tensioner (3) in direction of arrow until bore hole (4) is aligned with belt tensioner and crankcase.

Hold belt tensioner (3) under tension.

Secure with special tool 11 0 390 .

Remove drive belt (5).

Screw out screws (1 to 8).

Remove vibration damper (1).

Installation note:

Install vibration damper.

Join screws on vibration damper with 5 Nm.

Install drive belt.

Tighten screws on vibration damper

Tightening torque 11 23 1AZ .

Assemble engine.
