54 37 245 Replace microswitch on the left Kinematics box

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

Removal: 

Move soft top compartment lid into position shown.

IMPORTANT: Soft top compartment lid closes when system is depressurized and must be supported with suitable piece of auxiliary equipment.

NOTE: Hydraulic system must be at zero pressure.

Unscrew screw on hydraulic unit by 1.5 turns.

Unlock and detach retaining clip (1).

Detach linkage (2).

Unlock and detach plug connection (1), if necessary.

Cut open cable strap (2).

Unscrew nuts (3).

Take off kinematic box (4).

Release screws (1).

Remove microswitch.

Installation: 

Feed in line (1).

NOTE: Check for correct line routing!

Position microswitch (2).

Tighten down screws (3).

Tightening torque 54 37 19AZ .

Fasten line (1) using cable straps (4) and (5).

IMPORTANT: Risk of damage!
If the line is incorrectly routed, the line may be torn off.

Check connector housing (1) is correctly fastened.

Additional work for vehicles with version before 7/2014: 

The connector housing has to be replaced on the wiring harness connected to the vehicle.

Cut off line (1) directly at connector housing (2).

Carefully remove adhesive tape (3) along a length of approx. 4 cm. Do not damage lines (1) while doing so.

Slide gasket (TN 8 353 706) onto all lines (position thinner side of gasket towards cable end).

Strip lines.

Crimp PINS (TN 8 366 260) using special tool 61 9 041.

Connect pins into connector housing (TN 8 365 340) (pin assignment optional). Make sure that the gaskets are correctly seated in the connector housing.

Position kinematic box (4).

Lightly tighten nuts (3).

Connect and lock plug connection (1).

Slide linkage (2) onto bolt.

Lock locking clip (1).

Adjusting: 

Insert screws (1).

Kinematics box should still be able to be slid in order to center itself.

Close soft top compartment lid.

Open tailgate.

Tighten down screws (1).

Tightening torque 54 37 2AZ .

Check 41 00... BODY GAP DIMENSIONS .

If necessary, manually adjust the kinematics box.

Once correctly adjusted, close tailgate and open soft top compartment lid.

Tighten screw (2).

Tightening torque 54 37 2AZ .
