51 76 040 Removing and installing/replacing windscreen frame sealing

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Open folding roof
• Remove TRIM STRIPS FROM WATER CHANNEL 

Release screws (1) on windscreen frame seal (2).

Carefully wind out seal (1) (windscreen breakage).

Release all screws (2) on windscreen frame strip (3).

Installation note: 

To ensure leak-tightness, butyl cord must be inserted between A-pillar (2) and windscreen frame seal (3) in marked area (1).

Butyl rope:

Length = 40 mm

Dia. = 4 mm

Installation note: 

Insert windscreen frame strip (1) over entire length into

A-pillar seal (2).

When seal (2) is removed, tear-off lip (3) can tear off and remain in vehicle.

Replacement of sealing without windscreen removal: 

Detach tear-off lip (3) from seal (2).

If adhesive leaks over tear-off lip (3) onto bridge, this area must be cut out partially.

To facilitate installation, coat seal (2) and body aperture with water.

Pay attention to center mark when installing seal (2).

Replacement of sealing frame with removed or new windscreen: 

Pay attention to center mark when installing sealing (2) with tear-off lip (3).

Check and if necessary adjust positioning of windscreen frame sealing to roof shell gasket.
