12 13 511 Replacing ignition coils (N54, N53, N43)

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2010 BMW X6, 2009 BMW X6, and 2008 BMW X6. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Necessary preliminary tasks:

IMPORTANT: Ignition coils must not be fouled by fuel.
The resistance of the silicone material is reduced significantly by contact with fuel, which may cause the ignition coil to fail!

Unlock plug fastener (1) of ignition coil (2) and disconnect plug.

Pull ignition coil (2) up and out.

This procedure is applicable to all ignition coils.
