51 36 071 Replacing rear left or right side window
Special tools required:
Cover rear side panels with protective covers.
The side window can be reused only if the PVC coating is undamaged.
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove CAPPING IN LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT .
- Remove PANEL FOR ROOF PILLAR at rear (D-pillar).
- Remove TRIM PANEL FOR ROOF PILLAR (C-pillar).
- Release BELT .
- Remove STRIP ON SIDE WINDOW .
Tape off body in area of piercing point with fabric adhesive tape.
Moisten PVC spray-coating with water so that cutting wire can slide between body and side window and PVC spray-coating is not damaged.
Push wire starter from ROLL OUT 2000 at line (1) through adhesive bead.
Feed in cutting wire, secure special tool 51 3 270 and cut through adhesive bead in direction of arrow.
Remove side window and replace.
Fitting 3 Dual Lock tapes:
Remove rest of dual-lock tapes (1) and clean bonding surface.
Stick new dual-lock tapes (1) to body.
Dual-lock tapes on side window must match these dual-lock tapes.
Overview for side window bonding (E71, E72):
Moisten suction face of special tool 51 3 220 and secure to door window glass. Set down door window glass on a suitable surface.
If reusing the previous side window, remove adhesive residue down to 0.5 mm.
Almost vertical part (B) of adhesive bead (1) must face PVC spray-coating (5).
In area (X) of positioning pins (7) spacing (C) of adhesive bead (1) to PVC coating (5) must be increased to 4 mm.
Spread bead joint (4) with special tool 00 9 322 .
Fit side window (1) with positioning pins (2).
Insert side window (1) completely.
Close rear door.
Adapt side window (1) to rear door if necessary.
Snap side window into dual-lock tapes and secure with yellow plastic adhesive tape*.
