51 24 105 Removing and installing/replacing tailgate lock

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Release screws (2) from cover (1) and feed out cover (1).

Tightening torque 51 24 5AZ .

Installation note:

Make sure cover is in the correctly installed position (see arrow).

Release screws (5) on tailgate lock (3).

Tightening torque 51 24 1AZ .

Feed tailgate lock (3) out of tailgate.

US version only

Remove tab for emergency release from tailgate (4).

Detach plug connection (1) at tailgate lock (2).

Installation note:

To ensure correct functioning of the tailgate lock, emergency release (1) must be secured with cable strap (2).

Mount cable strap (2) if necessary.

Pass cable strap (2) through opening (3) and position to the left of latch mechanism (4).

Lock of cable strap (2) must be positioned centrally.
