18 32 050 Removing and installing/replacing catalytic exhaust-gas converter for cylinders 1-3 (N54)

WARNING: Scalding hazard. Only perform these tasks after exhaust system has cooled down.

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Unscrew nuts (1).

Remove heat shield (2).

Release nut (1) on holder.

Tightening torque 18 20 1AZ .

Release nut (1) on holder.

Tightening torque 18 20 1AZ .

Release bolts (1) on transmission.

Replace aluminium screws.

Tightening torque 24 00 2AZ .

Remove holder (2) for catalytic converters.

Release clamp. Clamp must be replaced each time it is released.

Tightening torque 18 31 3AZ .

In so doing, secure catalytic converter (1) against falling out.

Feed out catalytic converter (1) and remove.

Installation:

Clean sealing face. Replace seal and clamp.

Add final details to vehicle.

Check exhaust system for leaks.
