11 22 500 Removing and installing/replacing flywheel (N54, N54T)

Special tools required: 

• 11 4 180
• 11 9 260

Necessary preliminary tasks 

• Remove transmission. See 24 00 030 REMOVING AND INSTALLING AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION (GA6HP19Z) N54/N55 , 28 00 001 REMOVING AND INSTALLING TWIN-CLUTCH GEARBOX (GS7D36SG) N54, N55 , 23 00 028 REMOVING AND INSTALLING TRANSMISSION (GS6-45BZ) N55 , 23 00 028 REMOVING AND INSTALLING TRANSMISSION (GS6-45BZ) N55 4WD , 23 00 018 REMOVING AND INSTALLING TRANSMISSION (GS6-53BZ) N54 or 23 00 018 REMOVING AND INSTALLING TRANSMISSION (GS6-53BZ) N54 4WD .
• Remove clutch  . See 21 21 500 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING CLUTCH (SAC 240) or 21 21 500 REMOVING AND INSTALLING OR REPLACING CLUTCH (SAC 240) (except Automatic and DKG).

Enlarge special tool 11 9 260 with an elongated hole.

Enlarge elongated hole on special tool 11 9 260 to 8 mm  .

For vehicles with manual gearboxes 

Secure flywheel with special tool 11 9 260 .

Release flywheel bolts with special tool 11 4 180 /

Tightening torque: 11 22 2AZ .

Installation note: 

The flywheel is secured with a dowel pin.

Fit new flywheel bolts. 

For vehicles with automatic transmissions 

Secure flywheel with special tool 11 9 260 .

Release flywheel screws with a suitable tool (1).

Tightening torque: 11 22 1AZ .

Installation note: 

The flywheel is secured with a dowel pin.

Fit new flywheel bolts. 

Assemble engine.
