54 37... Gauging base plate (cowl panel fastener)
Special tools required:
- Accident repairs to the cowl panel
Do not use the gauge for:
- Problems with tightness
- Adjusting procedures based on appearance or fit
Necessary preliminary tasks
REMOVE FRONT ROOFLINER cover.
Fold down tabs (1) and undo all screws (2) underneath on both sides of vehicle.
Installation note:
Water drainage channel (3) must not be clogged.
Detach seal (1) in direction of arrow from window frame.
Installation note:
If necessary, moisten seal (1) with water for better fitting.
Release all screws (1).
Remove top cowl panel strip (2).
Remove plate clamp in center of vehicle (1).
Undo screws (2) of base plate on left and right.
Base plates must still just be able to be moved.
Always install and remove the wind cowl panel gauge with a helper.
To prevent damage to the cowl panel gauge, set the gauge down only in the transportation crate or on the cowl panel.
The cowl panel gauge is a highly sensitive measuring instrument which reacts with distortion, even to light impacts.
The cowl panel gauge must be checked for dimensional accuracy on a master gauge after being subjected to impact or dropped.
Place setting gauge 2 222 500 on cowl panel.
Position centering pin (1) in square hole in cowl panel.
Installation note:
Tighten screws (2) for left base plate.
Tightening torque 54 37 23AZ .
Remove setting gauge 2 222 500 from cowl panel.
GAUGE CONSOLES FOR ROOF module, INSTALL roof module.
Close soft top. Right base plate is aligned towards the soft top.
Tighten screws (2) for right base plate.
Tightening torque 54 37 23AZ .
Perform function check of soft top.
Reassemble the vehicle.
