Fault effect and breakdown warning

Breakdown notice:

Tank may be empty. Please refuel using fuel canister and proceed to nearest service station. Then proceed to BMW Service facility.

Possible apparent symptoms:

• Fuel gauge fails to read full after refueling.
• Tank is empty although gauge indicates that fuel is still present.
