Condition for fault identification

Test condition:

The fault is recognized when the VANOS fails to trail the specified value within the specified period.

Potential problem source(s):

• Extreme contamination on or seizure at VANOS solenoid valve
• Friction or defect in VANOS assembly

Terminal condition: none

Voltage condition:

• Electrical system voltage > 10 V

Temperature condition:

• Engine temperature between 0 °C and 110 °C

Time condition:

• None

Other conditions:

• Start process terminated, engine running
