51 11 156 Removing and installing (replacing) the front bumper panel (M Technic/M Coupe)

Special tools required:

Necessary preliminary tasks:

M-Technic only

NOTE: Prior to removing, pay attention to the exact installation position with respect to the adjoining components.

Pull off gasket (4) in the covered area of bumper panel (2).

Release screws (1) on bumper panel (2).

Lift bumper panel (2) over guide (3).

Release screws (1) from wheel arch cover (2) on both sides.

Lift out wheel arch cover (2) at side.

Installation note:

Make sure wheel arch cover (2) is in correct position.

Release screws (1).

IMPORTANT: Do not damage bumper panel when pulling off.

Slide special tool 00 9 317 between bumper panel (1) and holder (2).

Release latch mechanisms in area (3) and lever out bumper panel (1) in an outward direction.

Pull bumper panel (1) forwards a little.

If necessary, detach plug connections from ultrasonic sensors, fog lights and headlight cleaning system hose connection.

Remove bumper panel (1) towards the front with the aid of a 2nd person.

Installation note:

Latch mechanisms (2) of bumper panel (1) must not be damaged.

If necessary, carry out height adjustment, refer to BODY GAP DIMENSIONS .
