18 40 010 Removing and installing/replacing left exhaust manifold

Only perform these tasks on an engine that has cooled down.
Only perform these tasks on an engine that has cooled down.
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove left control sensor . See 11 78 530 REPLACING LEFT OXYGEN CONTROL SENSOR (N62/N62TU)
- Remove left monitor sensor . See 11 78 540 REPLACING LEFT OXYGEN MONITOR SENSOR (N62 / N62TU)
- Remove complete exhaust system .
- Secure engine in installation position with special tool . See 11 00 670 SECURING ENGINE IN INSTALLATION POSITION (N62, N62TU)
- Lower front axle support . 31 11 506 LOWERING/RAISING FRONT AXLE CARRIER
- Release LOWER SECTION OF STEERING SPINDLE .
- For BMW ALPINA B7 vehicles: Remove exhaust-gas temperature sensor.
For purposes of clarity, nuts are shown on removed engine.
Release nuts on exhaust manifold from below.
Remove exhaust manifold towards bottom and pull out towards rear.
Installation:
Replace seals.
Seal beads faces the exhaust manifold.
Coat threads with copper paste.
Replace nuts.
Tightening torque, see 11 62 1AZ in 11 62 EXHAUST MANIFOLD .
