23 00 112 Removing And Installing Transmission (GS6S53BZ SMG)

Special tools required: 

IMPORTANT:

    After completing work:

  • Perform adaptation using DIS Tester, refer to Service Functions in DIS Tester (Teach in transmission) 
  • Check TRANSMISSION OIL LEVEL 

    Use only the approved transmission oil

  • Check FLUID LEVEL in hydraulic system
  • Read out fault memory and clear entered faults

Failure to comply with this requirement will result in serious damage to the manual transmission.

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

Remove heat shields (1) and (2).

Pull plug (1) off pulse generator.

Release screw (2) and remove pulse generator.

Detach plug (1) from oil level sensor and unclip cable from fixtures.

Detach plug (1) from cable duct.

Press in retaining lugs (1) with screwdriver (2) and remove cable duct (3).

Tie wiring harness to one side.

Release screws (1) to support transmission.

Tightening torque 23 00 1AZ  . See COMPLETE TRANSMISSION for specs.

Supporting transmission: 

Support transmission with special tools 00 2 030  , 23 0 132  , 23 0 131  , 23 0 136  and 21 0 135.

Unfasten screws (1) and nuts (2).

Remove transmission cross-member.

Tightening torque 22 32 3AZ/4AZ  . See TRANSMISSION MOUNTS for specs.

Tasks are described in Removing PROPELLER SHAFT .

Disconnect plug connections (1) and (2).

Release cable strap (3).

Disconnect plug connections (1) and (2) and unclip cable from holder.

Detach plugs (4) from clutch travel sensor.

Detach plug (1) from sensor.

Unfasten screws.

Tightening torque 23 00 1AZ.  . See COMPLETE TRANSMISSION for specs.

IMPORTANT:

Do not allow the transmission to hang off from the transmission input shaft as this will deform the clutch plate.

Installation: 

Check that dowel sleeves are correctly seated.

Replace damaged dowel sleeves.

Ensure correct position of cover plate.

Installation: 

Check lubrication of transmission input shaft for sticky consistency. If grease is sticky, replace CLUTCH PLATE .

Check clutch plate for friction rust in taper splines and REPLACE IF NECESSARY .

Remove any grease and lining abrasion from taper splines of clutch plate by mechanical means (with a cloth).

Installation: 

Greasing specification:

IMPORTANT:

    After completing work:

  • Perform adaptation using DIS Tester, refer to Service Functions in DIS Tester (Teach in transmission)
