Observe following instructions relating to special tool:
- Prior to each use, check the special tools for defects, modifications and operational reliability.
- Damaged/modified special tools must not be used!
- No changes or modifications may be made to the special tools!
- Keep special tools dry, clean and free of grease.
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Secure engine bonnet/hood in service position . See 51 00 ... SERVICE POSITION OF ENGINE HOOD/BONNET .
- Remove both intake ducts
- Remove assembly compartment partition wall . See 51 71 ... REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING ASSEMBLY COMPARTMENT PARTITION WALL .
- Remove tension strut on spring strut dome on right . See 51 71 372 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING BOTH TENSION STRUTS ON SPRING STRUT DOMES .
Assemble transverse member 00 0 200 with special tools 00 0 202 , 00 0 204 , 00 0 208 .
Modification:
Replace profile strips with special tools 00 0 451 .
Replace front supports with special tools 00 0 452 .
NOTE:
Ensure that the longer feet of special tools 00 0 452
point to the middle of the vehicle.
NOTE:
The support points on the left side are shown.
Position transverse member 00 0 200 with a 2nd person helping on designated areas (1, 2).
NOTE:
Make sure that the front supports 00 0 452
are correctly positioned on the support carriers.
IMPORTANT:
Avoid a change of engine position in the transversal or longitudinal direction.
Always make sure there is sufficient clearance between the engine (or its attachment parts) and the body.

Secure special tool 11 0 000 to spindle 00 0 202 .
Attach suitable chains to special tool 11 0 000 and suspend from both engine suspension eyelets.
WARNING:
Danger of injury!
Tighten down all adjusting screws and nuts on transverse member 00 0 20 0.
Tighten down all adjusting screws and nuts on transverse member 00 0 20 0.
Unscrew nuts (1).
Raise engine approx. 10 mm with transverse member.
Installation:
Replace self-locking nut.
Tightening torque 22 11 2AZ . See ENGINE AND GEARBOX SUSPENSION - TIGHTENING TORQUES .
