51 45 075 Removing and installing support for instrument panel

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

Disconnect plug connection (1).

Release screw (2) and remove control unit.

Unscrew nuts (3).

Tightening torque 51 45 1AZ  , see 51 45 TRIM, INSTRUMENT PANEL .

Unclip wiring harness (4).

Release screw (1).

Unclip wiring harness (1).

Unfasten screws (2).

Tightening torque 51 45 4AZ  , see 51 45 TRIM, INSTRUMENT PANEL .

Pull center console approx. 130 mm towards rear.

Lift rear cabin heating duct (1) over transmission emergency release (2).

A/C system with four-zone control: 

Pull center console (1) approx. 130 mm towards rear (2) and raise at rear approx. 120 mm (3).

A/C system with four-zone control: 

Release screws (1) on left and right.

Pull back rear cabin fan (2) up to holder (3).

A/C system with four-zone control: 

Raise center console (1) at front and feed out heating duct (2) towards top.

If necessary, pull off knee protection (1).

If necessary, release screws (1).

Remove knee protection support plate (2).

Disconnect plug connection (1) and remove control units from control unit box.

Unfasten screws (2).

Tightening torque 32 31 1AZ  , see 32 31 STEERING COLUMN .

Lower steering column.

Unclip wiring harness (3).

Unscrew nuts (4).

Tightening torque 51 45 1AZ  , see 51 45 TRIM, INSTRUMENT PANEL .

Release diagnosis socket.

Release screw (1).

Tightening torque 51 45 4AZ  , see 51 45 TRIM, INSTRUMENT PANEL .

Unfasten screws (2).

Tightening torque 51 45 3AZ  , see 51 45 TRIM, INSTRUMENT PANEL .

Remove support for instrument panel.
