51 45 030 Removing and installing instrument panel trim

Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Move wheels into straight-ahead position
- Move front seats back completely and lower
- Retract steering wheel completely and lower
- Clamp off battery negative lead, see 61 20 900 DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING BATTERY NEGATIVE LEAD .
- Remove both trims for front roof pillar, see 51 43 201 Removing and installing/replacing trim for roof pillar at front (A-pillar), left or right .
- If necessary, remove trim for head-up display, see 62 30 005 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING TRIM FOR HEAD-UP DISPLAY .
- Remove light operator unit, see 61 31 037 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING LIGHT CONTROL UNIT .
- Remove side cover on instrument panel on left and right, see 51 45... Replacing side cover on instrument panel .
- Remove steering-column switch cluster, see 61 31 008 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING STEERING COLUMN SWITCH CLUSTER (SZL) .
- Remove instrument cluster, see 62 11 280 REMOVING AND INSTALLING (REPLACING) INSTRUMENT CLUSTER .
- Remove Car Communication Computer, see 65 83 010 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING CAR COMMUNICATION COMPUTER .
- Remove Central Information Display, see 65 50 057 REMOVING AND INSTALLING REPLACING CENTRAL INFORMATION DISPLAY (CID) .
- Pull back center console, refer to REMOVING COMPLETE CENTRE CONSOLE .
Release screw (1).
Release screws (1).
Disconnect plug connections (1) on control unit for Car Access System (3).
Unfeed plug connections (1) with cables.
Disconnect plug connections (1) for front passenger's airbag and speaker.
Unclip plug housing.
Unfasten screws (2).
Release screws (1).
Unclip plate (1).
Release screw (1).
Disconnect plug connection (1).
Release screw (1).
Release screws (1).
Feed out instrument panel trim towards rear and remove.
Installation:
Make sure guides (1) of instrument panel trim are correctly seated in relevant mountings (2).
