41 62 000 Removing And Installing Rear Lid

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

WARNING: Support rear lid in fully opened position with suitable apparatus. Risk of injury.

Slide stop spring (1) to end of gas-filled strut (2) and lever out gas strut. Set down gas strut.

Repeat procedure on other side of car.

Version with automatic rear lid actuation: 

Release ELECTRIC SPINDLE DRIVE on rear lid only.

IMPORTANT: Risk of damage!
The automatic tailgate actuation must be taken out of service.
For this purpose, disconnect CONTROL UNIT for electric spindle drive.

Carry over the work step shown symmetrically to the other side of the vehicle.

Release grommet (1) from rear lid and feed out wiring harness.

Unfasten screws (2).

Installation note: 

Tightening torque: 18.5 Nm

Make sure grommet is correctly seated (watertightness).

Remove rear lid towards rear with a 2nd person helping.

Installation note: 

Install rear lid at screw locations on hinge. This dispenses with the need for adjustment after installation.

If necessary, ADJUST TRUNK LID .

If reversing camera optional extra installed: 

Calibrate REVERSING CAMERA .
