64 51 001 Cleaning evaporator
Special tools required:
- 64 1 460
Wear protective rubber gloves and protective goggles.
If cleaning agent comes into contact with eyes or skin, wash immediately with lots of water.
- Close all air vents.
- Switch heating - A/C system to recirculated-air mode.
- Cover carpet in work area.
Recycling:
Carry out the cleaning operation in a suitable washing bay as the emerging cleaning agent escapes through the drain openings in the transmission tunnel.
After completing cleaning, allow car to drip-dry for approx. 5 minutes.
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove protection under transmission. Refer to REMOVAL & INSTALLATION - (6HP26Z/6HP32Z) .
- Remove evaporator temperature sensor. Refer to 64 11 943 REPLACING EVAPORATOR TEMPERATURE SENSOR (HIGH AUTOMATIC A/C) .
Release screw (1).
Remove left footwell air duct (2) in direction of arrow.
Installation:
Make sure air duct in footwell on left (2) is correctly seated on heating - A/C system (3).
Pull knob (1) in direction of arrow to move folding spray element into insertion position. Insert spray lance with folding spray element 64 1 460 through opening in evaporator temperature sensor.
Connect spray lance (2) to spray equipment.
Secure spray lance with folding spray element 64 1 460 and move spray lance (2) back and forth in direction of arrow to spray a uniform amount of cleaning agent over the evaporator.
Start car and run heating - A/C system at max. fan power for approx. 5 minutes in order to dry evaporator.
In order to eliminate the last remnants of cleaning agent, repeat this procedure shortly before handover to the customer.
