Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Remove function carrier in rear door refer to 51 22 035 REMOVING AND INSTALLING FUNCTION CARRIER (WITHOUT ROLLER SUN BLIND) ON LEFT OR RIGHT REAR DOOR
• Remove control unit for rear door, refer to 61 35 224 REMOVING AND INSTALLING (REPLACING) CONTROL UNIT FOR LEFT OR RIGHT REAR DOOR 
• Remove speaker, refer to 65 13 090 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING SPEAKER (MID-RANGE SPEAKER, DOOR AT REAR)

With roller sun blind only:

• Remove roller sun blind module, refer to 51 16 405 REMOVING AND INSTALLING OR REPLACING BLIND AT SIDE WINDOW OF LEFT OR RIGHT REAR DOOR

Build date up to 09/2004:

• Disconnect light module plug connection, refer to 63 99 491 REPLACING LIGHT MODULE FOR REAR LEFT OR RIGHT OUTSIDE DOOR HANDLE LIGHTING (UP TO 09/2004)

Unclip wiring harness.

Release screws (1).

Feed out rubber grommet (2) with wiring harness.
