51 24 004 Adjusting rear lid lock (lower section of rear lid lock): Notes

NOTE: Rear lid must be correctly adjusted before adjustment of Soft Close Automatic.

If necessary adjust rear lid to fit. Refer to Height Adjustment Of Trunk Lid: .

IMPORTANT: Once plug connection to servomotor has been disconnected, rear lid can only be opened with central key (1).
Button (2) then does not function.

Insert central key (1) in lock cylinder.

Lock rear lid lock upper section with a screwdriver.

Eccentric pin of rear lid lock lower section must now be at bottom dead centre.

Open flap in luggage compartment panel on right. Refer to 51 47 172 REMOVING AND INSTALLING / REPLACING FLAP IN LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM, LEFT OR RIGHT .

Unfasten plug connection (1) and disconnect.

The eccentric pin now remains at bottom dead centre even after the rear lid lock upper section has been unlocked.

Turn central key in lock cylinder to right, thereby unlocking rear lid lock upper section.

IMPORTANT: Rear lid lock upper section must be unlocked before each closing of rear lid (risk of damage).
